Board of the Foundation
The board consists of a number of former associates of the Bukovsky Foundation/Second World Center who in the past have earned their mark. The Board is chaired by Robert van Voren, a Sovietologist who became active in defense of human rights in the Soviet Union in 1977 and joined the Bukovsky Foundation in 1979. He subsequently held many functions and positions in various human rights organizations. He was elected Honorary Fellow of the British Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1997, knighted by Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands in 2005 and received citizenship of Lithuania in 2003 because of his contribution to the development of democracy in Lithuania. He is currently lecturing Sovietology at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas (Lithuania) and at Ilia State University in Tbilisi (Georgia). His book “On Dissidents and Madness” describes from a personal perspective the history of the predecessors of the Foundation “Inostrannyi Agent”.
Also the secretary and treasurer of the Board are former associates of the Bukovsky Foundation/Second World Center.
